PASSIVE HOUSE

Since 2016, URBAN PIONEERING ARCHITECTURE has been at the forefront of Passive House renovations across Brooklyn, employing this holistic building system and construction methodology to create exceptionally healthy and energy-efficient homes.

Buildings renovated to Passive House standards feature an airtight building envelope, surpassing standard insulation code minimums, substantially reducing heating and cooling needs, and effectively slashing energy expenses by around 90%.  This approach not only minimizes energy consumption but also provides added advantages, such as a significant decrease in street noise and the elimination of gas utility service.  A high-efficiency ventilation system delivers a continuous supply of conditioned and filtered fresh air, ensuring optimal room temperature and humidity levels while eliminating indoor dust and harmful airborne pollutants.  The outcome is a home that provides an exceptionally comfortable and high-quality indoor environment.  These residences are well suited for integrating solar energy systems, evolving them into net-zero properties that produce surplus energy.

UPA has developed a tiered system that can incorporate Passive House technologies, from full intervention to select applications, adapting and customizing the approach.  The goal is to empower our clients to enjoy the advantages of this technology while aligning with their specific needs.
