    STATUS: DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

In it's final breaths, this South Slope home needed more than a simple redesign. Illegal additions, non-compliant conditions and an incomplete interior renovation made for additional construction, design and legal challenges. Retrofit to the existing footprint, the legal, code compliant, sustainable and energy efficient renovation is essentially a ground-up new construction within the existing framework. It is slated to become a sustainable two family home; including an accessible apartment at ground level with an expansive rear yard, and a single-family duplex above with an outdoor terrace and roof deck

    SIZE: 3500 SQ FT
    STATUS: DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

A three generation Brooklyn family looking to revamp of their brownstone through the most energy efficient and budget friendly means, decided to convert their home into a passive house. This 3-story brownstone will receive a gut renovation, a full story addition and a rear extension with a modern rear façade. All construction will follow passive house standards, which consists of a continuous thermal seal, controlled indoor air quality and stable indoor temperature year-round to eliminate the need for heating or cooling.

The current design also includes two outdoor terraces and a custom kitchen, including environmentally friendly appliances, minimalist inspired finishes and products throughout, to accommodate this growing family for years to come. This project is anticipated for completion in spring 2018.
